Welcome to the snazzy seventh grade where students smile!

Our busy year includes many highlights; these are some of them:

1.   Seventh grade begins with students presenting summer reading projects to build oral, organizational, and literature skills.  The format is a “brown bag” of props, which are used to illustrate the book’s storyline.

2.   As in previous grades, students participate in the weekly, Friday 9 a.m. liturgies.  Students are involved as congregants, greeters, readers, cantors, bearers of offertory gifts, choristers, and musicians.  We spend time in Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament during Forty Hours devotions and at bi - monthly intervals.  During the high liturgical seasons of Advent and Lent, students have opportunities to observe traditional practices such as prayer and lighting of the Advent wreath, Advent angels’ sharing with primary grade students, and weekly Stations of the Cross.

3.   Confirmation preparation is begun for all seventh grade students as they look forward to reception of this sacrament in the spring of eighth grade.  First year preparation consists of performance of fifteen service hours and related written reflections, rite of sending, and two group retreats.

4.   Our first year Junior Achievement program is structured around personal finance concepts, career guidance, and vocational skills presented by a community business person through activities and gaming.

5.   Many extra curricular options exist for seventh graders: CYO girls’ and boys’ basketball program, girls’ cheerleading, Knights of Columbus track and field program, Quiz Bowl, Math Counts, choir, stage crew for 8th grade Christmas play, Spring Musical program, and altar servers.

6.   Gradually throughout the seventh grade school year, students accept responsibilities for leadership roles as the upcoming senior eighth grade class.
