Welcome to Eighth Grade!
The 8th grade year at OMPH is always exciting for our students as they become the leaders in the school and strive to make the most of their final year at OMPH.
In Religion class we will be preparing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. During the first semester we study about the sacrament and learn more about the saint we have chosen for our Confirmation name. Our parish preparation will involve a commitment of service to our families, our church, and our community.
Academics are stressed as students strive to do well in class and master those skills needed for high school. Academically talented students may try to earn a spot on the Quiz Bowl Team. Students who demonstrate strong academic skills along with leadership, character, citizenship and, service may be selected for membership in the National Junior Honor Society.
The annual Christmas play presented by the 8th grade is a wonderful opportunity for students to share their musical, dance, and acting skills.
All eighth graders are involved in the Safety Patrol program in which they serve as greeters at the school doors each morning, assist in Preschool and Kindergarten before school starts each day, serve a leaders for bus lines, and many other duties as called upon.
Each spring we participate in a Junior Achievement program which introduces our students to the structure of operating a business and allows us to visit local businesses.
The culmination of our year is graduation which brings closure to our years at OMPH as we look forward to new adventures and challenges in high school.
